P-Mentorship Highlights!

Christine Nyawaga – P.A.K.E.M.A-Ambassador and Mentor, Hilsdale College Michigan USA

“Throughout  my life I have been very fortunate to have mentors, from my parents, my siblings and close friends, who have guided me in different aspects of my life. This has had a tremendous impact on my life, molding me to be the person I am today. This got me thinking that I should impact  someone else’s life by giving back to the society as a Mentor; especially making the young children and youths believe in themselves since this is the first step to achieving one’s goals in life. The P.A.K.E.M.A Mentorship program has been a great way for me to do this. Early this year January 2013 when I visited home for the winter break, fellow P-Mentors and I visited with two of the P.A.K.E.M.A Mentoring Club (PMC) Schools: Tulwet and Kong’onyei Bethel Primary Schools based in Sondu, Kenya. I got the opportunity to speak with the class 8 pupils, telling them about themselves and inspiring them to DREAM BIG. It was very humbling  seeing and talking with the students and their teachers, it  reminded me of how I once sat in a nearly similar class room like them. The look of admiration on their faces was priceless. It inspired me to strive even more. I am glad P.A.K.E.M.A and the schools gave me the opportunity and I would definitely do it over again when I can”
